Turn Your Ideas Into Books

Turn Your Ideas Into Books

by Laura Backes, Write4Kids.com - The Children's Writing SuperSite

Maybe you're one of those lucky writers whose head is
bursting with ideas. Or perhaps you have one idea that's
been nagging you for weeks, always at the edge of your
thoughts. Either way, you're itching to begin writing.
That's good. But before you rush headlong into your story,
stop and ask yourself one question: Is this just an idea, or
is it a book?

Ideas, of course, are the seeds of any work of fiction or
nonfiction. But until an idea is fully developed, until you
can envision its beginning, middle and end, that one idea
might not be enough. The experience of writing for pages
about an idea and ultimately getting nowhere (or getting a
pile of rejections) has taught many writers to outline their
books before they begin. But if the thought of an outline
sends shivers up your spine, at least thinking your idea
through and making sure it merits months of writing can save
you future frustration.

Ideas for Fiction

A lot of writers, especially when they're beginners, get
ideas for fiction from their own lives. This can be useful
for several reasons: you're emotionally invested in the
topic, you can relate directly to the main character, and if
the situation actually happened to you, you're less likely
to be unconsciously basing the story on a book you've read.
But remember, just because you find this thing that happened
to you or your child fascinating, it doesn't mean it will be
fascinating to thousands of potential readers. Very often, a
real-life event is just that--an event. It's a vivid scene
you recall with pleasure, or a family joke that's repeated
over and over. It evokes strong emotions when you remember
it, perhaps you even look back on an event as a turning
point in your life. But only rarely does reality provide a
plot.

When writers stick too closely to what really happened they
fail to develop the elements necessary for a good story: a
believable main character who is faced with a problem or
conflict, mounting tension as that character tries to solve
her problem and experiences setbacks, and a tension- filled
climax followed by a resolution that's satisfying to the
character and the reader. If your main character is really
your son, you might not want to get him in trouble or throw
rocks in his path. But you have to. It's the only way you'll
create a story that will keep readers hooked and wondering
how it will end.

Speaking of endings, if the resolution of your story comes
too easily, it's probably obvious and predictable. Try
mixing up real life and have the situation evolve in a
different direction. Surprise yourself, and you'll surprise
an editor.

However you get your idea, focus first on whether it's a
plot or a theme. Many times, an initial idea is really the
underlying meaning of the story, what the author wants to
convey to the reader. Themes should be universal in their
appeal-- such as friendship, appreciating one's own
strengths, not judging others too quickly. Then play around
with the sequence of events until you develop a plot (what
actually happens in the book) that makes this theme clear to
the reader. And remember; if you're using a childhood
incident as the foundation of your story, tell it from your
childhood viewpoint, not how it feels to you now as an
adult.

Ideas for Nonfiction

Your nonfiction book should be based on something you're
truly interested in and passionate about. After all, you'll
be living with this idea for many months. The key to
successful nonfiction is to take your idea and approach it
in a way that no one else has ever done before. This means
doing most of your research before you begin to write. Don't
settle for the most easily-found information on your topic--
your readers have probably read the same information. Keep
digging until you find an aspect to your subject that
strikes you as unique. Then search through the library and
book stores to make sure no one else has already beat you to
it.

For a nonfiction idea to become a book, you need enough
information to fill the number of pages necessary, depending
on the age group for which you plan to write. Younger
children need a foundation of basic facts, but you can also
get fairly detailed within the scope of the approach you've
chosen as long as you explain concepts in a simple and
straightforward manner (how animals hibernate, why insects
are different colors). Older readers can draw on a broader
foundation of knowledge, and infer connections between your
topic and related subjects. A detailed outline of any
nonfiction book is essential to help you see if your idea
has enough substance and originality, or if you need further
research before you begin writing.

Whether it's fiction or nonfiction, your idea should mean
something to you, but also have the potential to mean a lot
to your readers. Think it through, add to it, take the
nonessential elements away, and make sure it has a
beginning, middle and end. Only then will your "idea" turn
into "an idea for a book."

The 4-Hour Workweek: Escape 9-5, Live Anywhere, and Join the New Rich

The 4-Hour Workweek: Escape 9-5, Live Anywhere, and Join the New Rich
What do you do? Tim Ferriss has trouble answering the question. Depending on when you ask this
controversial Princeton University guest lecturer, he might answer:

“I race motorcycles in Europe.”
“I ski in the Andes.”
“I scuba dive in Panama.”
“I dance tango in Buenos Aires.”

He has spent more than five years learning the secrets of the New Rich, a fast-growing subculture who has abandoned the “deferred-life plan” and instead mastered the new currencies—time and mobility—to create luxury lifestyles in the here and now.

Whether you are an overworked employee or an entrepreneur trapped in your own business, this book is the compass for a new and revolutionary world. Join Tim Ferriss as he teaches you:

• How to outsource your life to overseas virtual assistants for $5 per hour and do whatever you want
• How blue-chip escape artists travel the world without quitting their jobs
• How to eliminate 50% of your work in 48 hours using the principles of a forgotten Italian economist
• How to trade a long-haul career for short work bursts and freuent "mini-retirements"
• What the crucial difference is between absolute and relative income
• How to train your boss to value performance over presence, or kill your job (or company) if it’s beyond repair
• What automated cash-flow “muses” are and how to create one in 2 to 4 weeks
• How to cultivate selective ignorance—and create time—with a low-information diet
• What the management secrets of Remote Control CEOs are
• How to get free housing worldwide and airfare at 50–80% off
• How to fill the void and create a meaningful life after removing work and the office

You can have it all—really.

Customer Review: Just what I was looking for.

This book is great, just what I was looking for. A step by step approach to making money.

Customer Review: Please.

This book could have been written by any of my ex-boyfriends. How to make it look like you're working hard while you sit around only thinking about yourself and taking advantage of everybody?

But I will give Timothy Ferriss a second chance if he can do the following: explain to me how and why his book illustrates the limit of capitalism using orthodox Marxist terminology. Then, convince me that this is good thing, still without resorting to corporate-speak, cliche, or neologism. Bonus: don't try to sidestep the question by arguing that my viewpoint is just the residue of an outdated paradigm.

That would be worth my time. This book was not. I read this book as a skeptic who was keen to be convinced. Needless to say, I am not.

Collecting Books - A Quick Start Guide For The Novice Collector

Collecting books can be rewarding emotionally and financially. Your collection will grow and change throughout your life just as you do. For the novice, the best advice I can give you is to collect books for the love of it and not just for financial gain. Your collection should be a display of your interests. My personal interests are Horror and Science Fiction and my collection reflects that. Some collectors only collect books by their favorite authors, some from specific time periods, and others collect by subject. Collect the books you love and your experience will be far more rewarding.

What's It Worth

Like most things in life, the monetary value of a book is governed by the laws of supply and demand. One common myth among novice collectors is that all first editions are worth a lot of money. This is not true.
Before going to press, publishers try to gauge the demand for a book. If the demand exceeds the supply, then the monetary value will increase. If there is more supply than demand, then the book will probably be worth no more than what you paid for it.

Getting Started

There are many ways to find books other than bookstores. Below are just a few of your options.

1. Auctions - Auctions are a good way to acquire books at a ridiculously low price. Not only are they fun, but there is a good chance you'll be the only one who knows what the book is really worth.

2. Garage Sales - Garage sales are great way to find collectable books. In most cases, the person selling the book doesn't know what it's actually worth.

3. Thrift Shops - Frequent thrift shops and browse through their books. There's no telling what you might find.

4. Classified Ads - Classified ads are a low cost way to acquire books. Run a small ad explaining what your looking for and give your phone number. You might be surprised.

Book Care

Books are fragile and require care. Below are a few tips on keeping your collection in the best condition possible.

1. Keep your books out of sunlight! - Sunlight will cause your books to yellow and fade.

2. Mylar Covers - Mylar covers are very cheap. Use them!

3. Avoid High Humidity - High humidity can cause mold.

4. Water damage - Of course, water can ruin a book. Keep your books away from any source of water.

5. Bugs and rodents - Insects and rodents love books.

6. Read carefully - Don't dog-ear the pages! Use a bookmark.

Get Started

These are just a few basic tips for beginning book collectors. There is an endless supply of resources for collectors online. Take advantage of them and get started. Just remember, have fun and collect what you enjoy.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid

Diary of a Wimpy Kid
Boys don’t keep diaries—or do they?

The launch of an exciting and innovatively illustrated new series narrated by an unforgettable kid every family can relate to

It’s a new school year, and Greg Heffley finds himself thrust into middle school, where undersized weaklings share the hallways with kids who are taller, meaner, and already shaving. The hazards of growing up before you’re ready are uniquely revealed through words and drawings as Greg records them in his diary.

In book one of this debut series, Greg is happy to have Rowley, his sidekick, along for the ride. But when Rowley’s star starts to rise, Greg tries to use his best friend’s newfound popularity to his own advantage, kicking off a chain of events that will test their friendship in hilarious fashion.

Author/illustrator Jeff Kinney recalls the growing pains of school life and introduces a new kind of hero who epitomizes the challenges of being a kid. As Greg says in his diary, “Just don’t expect me to be all ‘Dear Diary’ this and ‘Dear Diary’ that.” Luckily for us, what Greg Heffley says he won’t do and what he actually does are two very different things.

Since its launch in May 2004 on Funbrain.com, the Web version of Diary of a Wimpy Kid has been viewed by 20 million unique online readers. This year, it is averaging 70,000 readers a day.

Customer Review: Best cartoon book

This is a very good cartoon book. My first grader was able to read it without any problems. It kept him entertained for hours. It IS a rather long book though. I would recommend it to any child up through 6th grade.

Customer Review: this book was exellent!!!

Recipe Memory Book - Family

Recipe Memory Book - Family
The Family Recipes Memory Book makes the perfect keepsake or the perfect gift! Use the binder to preserve photos or heirloom recipe cards and record family specialties, preparation tips, and recollections of special meals shared.Features include: Die-cut

Customer Review: Great gift!

My best friend loves to cook and I bought this for her bridal shower. I added recipes from all the people at the shower and she loved it.

This book is tall enough to provide ample room to write out recipes. There are also sticky pages to add photos or individual recipe cards. The book is the size of a photo album. The pockets seem big enough to hold quite a lot of recipes cut from magazines and newspapers. The theme is "recipes and memories" so there is a line on each page for memories or anecdotes regarding that recipe.

The cover is really cute with the wooden rolling pin glued on the front- makes it look like it was homemade. Cute idea to welcome someone into the family with treasured recipes. Great gift for weddings, showers, etc.

Pride and Prejudice - The Special Edition (A&E, 1996)

Pride and Prejudice - The Special Edition (A&E, 1996)
Jane Austen's classic novel of 1813, Pride and Prejudice, still wins the hearts of countless schoolgirls with its romantic story of Elizabeth Bennet and her Mr. Darcy. Now, the 1996 BBC miniseries is winning over adults, with its faithful adaptation, gorgeous scenery, and superb acting.

The essence of the story is the antagonism between Mr. Darcy, a wealthy single man who believes Elizabeth to be beneath him, and Elizabeth, who upon being insulted at a dance by the aloof Darcy refuses to associate with him in any manner. Austen evokes incredible tension with the wit and flirtation of the two characters, and director Simon Langton (who also directed Upstairs Downstairs) successfully translates the repartee and conflict in this six-hour miniseries. Dialogue, for the most part, is painstakingly replicated, except when fleshing out and smoothing for modern sensibilities was necessary. Darcy, for instance, is drawn out, giving his personality significantly more depth. The acting sweeps you away to Regency England: Jennifer Ehle (of Wilde) is convincing as the obstinate Elizabeth, who, despite her mother's attempts to marry her off, spurs the attentions of Darcy. And Colin Firth (of The English Patient) will have women everywhere longing for a Mr. Darcy of their own.

For those who have been on an Austen binge--enjoying such excellent adaptations as Sense and Sensibility and Persuasion--this miniseries will round out the ultimate Austen video library. For those new to these romantic period pieces, this version of Pride and Prejudice will have you hooked and longing for more. One caveat, however: plan to watch it in an entire day, because very few have the self-control to not watch all six hours in a single sitting. --Jenny Brown

Customer Review: Get the VHS tapes

I love this show. But, the DVD color ruined it. Even with the brightness all the way up, the people had black blobs on their heads instead of hair and the shadows were all pitch black and the bright colors were bluish.

Oh and I bought the special edition, in 2008, and it said it had been remastered for the best quality in picture and sound. Well, they still have some work to do!

I returned the DVD and got the tapes from Amazon marketplace. So beautiful and well worth it!! Get the tapes. There are 6 tapes and even with the hassles of the tapes I was as enchanted as I was when I first saw this on PBS and waited for a rerun!!

Customer Review: Best production of Pride & Prejudice Available

Compared to other available reproductions of Jane Austen's Pride & Prejudice, the dialog is very accurate - which makes this a long film, but a must have for any Jane Austen lover, or for any admirer of Mr. Darcy, whom Colin Firth portrays excellently.

When I started reading this book I couldn't put it down it was sooo great!!!

Complete-A-Sketch Book 3- Perspective

Complete-A-Sketch Book 3- Perspective
The primary focus of this volume is perspective or three dimensional art of the most realistic variety. Perspective line art is used primarily by people in architectural and art fields. It is a great skill to have. Like Volume 1 & 2, the lessons start with the most basic shapes, cubes cylinders, one point perspective and two point perspectives, etc. After this simple beginning the difficulty builds and becomes more interesting. This allows for quick successes and fun. Quickly the student gains confidence and builds on new skills to move on to increasingly more complex sketches. Complete-A-Sketch is reproducible for your family; your child can start working with this book at age 9 or 10. This volume is the most challenging of the series and some students may wish just do do this volume to help them with this specific skill. Written and illustrated by Melvin G. Peterman

Quickbooks Tips

QuickBooks is a great accounting program for home-based businesses to track their income and expenses. It is easy to learn and simple to use. It has a great Help file. You do not need an accounting background to be able to generate reports such as a Profit and Loss and Balance Sheet needed for tax preparation and managing your business. I have listed a few key points to consider when using QuickBooks.

Cash or Accrual Basis of Accounting? The first step in setting up your company in QuickBooks is to determine if you will track income and expenses on the ?Cash Basis? or ?Accrual? basis. Most small businesses operate on the cash basis of accounting. What this means is you record your expenses when you write the check or charge your credit card, and you record your sales or income when you take the money to the bank and deposit it into your account. This is the easiest way to account for your transactions. Some businesses are required by the IRS to report on the accrual basis. This normally pertains to large publicly traded companies and/or some manufacturing entities. On the accrual basis, you record income at the time of sale, not at the time you receive payment. You also enter expenses when you receive the bill, not when you pay it. The choice is yours on which basis to use. QuickBooks supports both accounting methods.

Simplify the Chart of Accounts!! The most important list in your accounting system is your Chart of Accounts. You track your flow of money through this list of accounts which includes where your income comes from, where you put it, what your expenses are for, and what you use to pay them. QuickBooks? EasyStep Interview walks you through setting up your accounts. The system also offers sample business templates that already have accounts set up for you. You can later delete or add any accounts that were initially setup in this interview to make it match your income and expenses better. Keep your chart of accounts SIMPLE! Too many accounts result in messy reports that are hard to read and analyze. Also, use descriptions for your account id?s, not numbers. If you assign account numbers for each account, you will have to memorize the numbers for fast data entry. It is much easier to type in the name of the account when entering transactions. This is a key timesaver!

Utilize Reports QuickBooks has many reports you can run for daily management of your business. The most widely used reports are the Profit & Loss statement and Balance Sheet. The Profit and Loss statement is simply your sales minus your expenses over a period of time. When you choose to display a report such as the Profit and Loss statement, you are able to drill down from each account to obtain the source of the amount in the report. For example, you see that your Travel Expense account has a balance of $1,000.00. You want to see whom you paid for Travel for the month, so you can place your cursor over the Travel Expense amount and double click to obtain a report that will show you the detail of transactions that make up the $1,000.00 spent. You can then further drill down to view the actual check written. The Balance Sheet report shows you your Assets, Liabilities and Equity of your business. Assets include what you have and what people owe you money, such as your bank account balance, inventory owned, accounts receivable, and fixed assets such as equipment and furniture. Liabilities include what your company owes to other people or your company debts. Examples include unpaid bills, money you owe on credit cards, loans, and sales tax you owe. Equity is the net worth of your company: equity = assets ? liabilities. Other reports include detailed and summary sales reports, sales tax reports, inventory reports, vendor reports, sales tax reports, payroll reports, and many more.

Create a Professional Image QuickBooks also has other features that allow you to customize forms such as invoices, statements, and purchase orders you want to send to your customers and vendors. It will allow you to generate mailing labels and email messages to your existing customers and vendors that are setup in QuickBooks. You can also print checks on preprinted business forms.

Online banking is available with QuickBooks, which enables you to pay your bills electronically and reconcile your bank accounts monthly. This is essential to make sure you capture all business deductions to minimize your end of year tax liability.

Keep it Separate! You should not track personal finances, investments, and details not specifically related to your business in your QuickBooks company file. Mixing of personal and business funds makes tax preparation harder and more expensive in some cases if using an accountant or tax preparation service.

An accounting degree is not required to enter daily and weekly tasks in QuickBooks. QuickBooks is an easy to use accounting software program that allows business owners to manage their business more profitably.

Customer Review: HORRIBLE

Ok...this album...SUCKS and thats putting it lightly. Long gone are the days of Hybrid Theory and the good mix of rap and rock. This was a waste of my money (which i ran out and bought the limited edition the day it came out). I mean...come on guys seriously who wants to listen to a bunch of whiney emo songs from yet another sellout band? I have lost all respect completely for this band and this album is to blame. Yes it does have evolution but its not a good one. I understand that they arent gonna put out another hybrid theory but could you atleast keep the awesome guitars and the hard rock beat to it? And wheres Mike on this one? It seems he is disapearing from the band which i dont like. All in all i recomend this album to no one who respects rock music its a waste of money

After writing all this matter on entertainment books, we have undergone a sense of a gratification on its completion. If this information is utilized, we will feel even better.

A Featured entertainment books Article
Offer Free Downloadable E-books and See Increased Website Traffic

Copyright 2006 Anton Cheranev

It is common knowledge that everyone loves to get something for free. People are often seen stuffing hundreds of forms into contest ballot boxes, sometimes filling them out for hours at a time. It is unreal what people will do for a freebie. The same is true with your website. If you are trying to target more traffic and increase your website production, then you should certainly consider adding free downloads to your site. Downloads are extremely popular with web users today, especially when they are free. With many sites charging outrageous prices for the smallest download, a freebie is always welcomed. By offering free downloads, you will see that your website traffic will increase and those who use your site will keep coming back. It is a great thing to do and can be extremely inexpensive as well.

When choosing which downloads to include on your site, you will probably find that downloadable e-books are among the easiest to work with. E-books are partial or complete books on different subjects. You can even write the content yourself if you wish. Sometimes you can find e-books that are already written and are available for anyone to use on their site. If you want to offer something fresh and interesting however, you should only use original material that has never been published on the web before. This will allow your site to be new and exciting to web users.

After deciding to use e-books as your free downloadable gift to your visitors, you will need to choose the subjects you want to work with. You can stick with one basic theme for your site if you wish. If you already have a website that is about dolls, then you may want to only include free downloadable e-books that pertain to the subject of dolls. This will allow those who come to your site initially to get more than what they expected, which is a great thing. They will likely bookmark your site and keep coming back for more information and free downloads. They may even tell their friends about the site as well.

If you are creating a site that consists of nothing but e-books, then you probably want to use e-books in a wide variety of subjects. You can group them within your site by topic or theme to make it look organized. If this is your plan, you might also want to hire professional writers to help you with this task. If your site will be nothing but e-books, you will probably find the writing to be a bit overwhelming to tackle alone. You can hire freelance writers to help you with this task, which will help you create strong writing content as well as help take the stress load off of you.

When using only one or two e-books on your existing site, be sure to offer a new e-book as often as possible. You may be able to change the e-books each week or maybe change them monthly. By offering something new to visitors however, they will be likely to come back to see if anything is new quite often. You can even make an "announcement" on your site telling visitors when a new e-book will be available. This will give them an idea of when to expect it and help them stay motivated to come back to your site. If you want, you can also allow visitors to sign up for emails that will notify them when a new e-book is available. This will guarantee they won't forget.

Whether you write the downloadable e-books yourself or hire a professional to help you, you will certainly see increased website traffic. When you are offering a web user something for free, such as a downloadable e-book, you are making them feel appreciated and warm. You are telling them that you are inviting them into your site, not specifically to take their money, but to help them gain information as well. This is a great way to build a good reputation and a devoted group of website visitors. So, go ahead and start planning your e-books today. The sooner you get them posted on your site, the sooner you will see that increase in website traffic.

Toyota Land Cruiser, 1968-1982 (Haynes Manuals)
Land Cruiser Series FJ40 FJ43 FJ45 and FJ55 (68 - 82) Haynes offers the best coverage for cars trucks vans and SUVs in the market today. Each manual is written and photographed from "hands-on" experience gained by a complete teardown and rebuild of the vehicle. The first Haynes manual was written this way 40 years ago and all the manuals continue to be produced this way making Haynes the world leader in automotive repair information.

Customer Review: Helpful for your avrage, but could give more technical info.

I found the Hains to be helpful in the basic needs of a Toyota Land Cruiser FJ-40 owner, but if you are looking for a book that will give more indepth information, such as restoration jobs, I do not recomend this book. For example this books digrams and schematics are much to be desired and blurry at best.In addition, job descriptions are sometimes missing key steps. Check it for your self before you by it!!!

Customer Review: A must have for 40-Series Owners

I find that this book is often the the book that I want to go to first for information about servicing Land Cruisers. The Original Toyota manuals are more thorough but they are not organized in a fashion that I like as much as this book by Haynes. This book has a very good collection of wiring schematics for vehicles produced between 1968 and 1982. Torque specifications are liberally included throughout the book and I feel that most of the critical torque settings are included. The cutaway drawing on the cover is of a 1975ish vintage FJ40 and is very well executed. This book is much more thorough than the Haynes manual for the 60-series and 80-series Land Cruisers. Forexample the 60/80-series Haynes book basically says about the gearboxes that you should take them to a mechanic for servicing. This book covers servicing all parts of the drivetrain. The unfortunate things about this book are: 1. it covers only the F and 2F petrol engines and does not cover any of the diesel engines 2. it does not cover any of the pre-1968 Land Cruiser models: some of which are very interesting and most of which are very difficult to obtain good service documentation about. This book is well worth owning and I think that it is a better Service Manual than most of the other books about Land Cruisers of this vintage.

Customer Review: WRONG COVER

THIS COVER DOES NOT FIT TO PRS-505.

I UNDERSTOOD THIS TOO LATE.

THIS COVER IS FOR PRS-500 , BUT AMAZON SOLD IT ME WITH PRS-505!!

Customer Review: wrong product

While the electronic book cover I received looks to be quite nice, I was very disappointed on two fronts: Amazon e-mail marketed the product to me along with a charger for the e-book. The charger order was canceled by the supplier without giving me the opportunity to cancel the cover portion of the order (I would not have purchased one without the other). When I received the cover, it was not clear that it only fits an older version of the e-book, so I only realized I'd wasted $30+ AFTER I'd broken the packaging and couldn't return it. I will think twice about purchasing anything marketed to me based on a prior purchase from Amazon.

Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends - Cranky Bugs & Other Thomas Stories

Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends - Cranky Bugs & Other Thomas Stories
Cranky the Crane gives little engines Thomas and Percy a lot of grief in the title story. To make matters worse, big engines Gordon and James side with the ill-tempered lifter and the little guys get nervous and begin making mistakes on the job. They redeem themselves, however, when Cranky topples in a storm and Thomas and his buddy put him back upright. Other stories feature twin engines Bill and Ben having "teething troubles," Toad the brake van's forward-thinking ambition, grumpy Gordon crashing through a station wall, and storyteller Alec Baldwin adopting a falsetto as Lady Hatt, Sir Topham Hatt's wife and birthday girl. In lieu of a seventh story, a chorus of kids sings "Night Train" while the model trains steam through darkness in a series of dramatic scenarios. --Kimberly Heinrichs

Customer Review: Another great Thomas Movie to add to our collection!!

My oldest son LOVES Thomas & Friends and this was the movie he asked for at Christmas. He absolutely loves this movie. I think it is pretty short but it doesn't bother him at all!

Customer Review: Night train song not available on DVD version

We ordered this DVD for our son after borrowing the same version on VHS from a friend. My son loved the "Night Train" song so much that we ordered this DVD for the song alone. However, the "Night Train" is not on the DVD version, which makes absolutely no sense that the DVD and VHS versions would not contain the same stories (and the "Night Train" was listed as the last story on the VHS). We now have endless requests for the song and will now have to order the VHS. This DVD was a ripoff. Just order the VHS and save your money.

Are These Internet Marketing Ebooks Hogwash?

Internet Marketing as we all know it is pretty crowded with funny people making lots of huge bombastic claims over their nonsense crappy books and stuff. You might have come across ebooks making claims like "how to make $XXX in 2 weeks" or "anyone can earn money at home".

Being guilty of myself, I have literally spent gazillion amount of money into these internet marketing ebooks when I started out but only to find it later at those free-for-all ebooks directories, free membership sites or even those giveaway sites. Though it's a sad experience to see youself spending money into something which could be downloaded somewhere over the Internet for free, there are still some good ebooks and materials which you should buy. Here are some of the guidelines which you should know of before you start your spending spree.

Don't Spend Money On Junk
Don't spend your money on something that tells you that with no experience you can make a lot of money. Typically this stuff is nothing more than trying to sell you pie in the sky. You can always learn and equipped yourself with knowledge from other free ebooks, newsletters or forums before spending your money on these ebooks.

Only Buy From The Experts Who Are Successful Themselves
The most advertised ebooks are not always the best. Good stuff will naturally come to you either by way of constant good reviews from other Internet Marketers, word of mouth, buzz from forums or discussion boards and even testimonials from the actual people who use them. Thus, you should always buy from the recognized experts who have had tons of experience under their belt and also reputable results to back up their claims.

Buy Only On What You Actually Need.
It's no point to spend your hard earned money on whatever ebooks or internet marketing materials which you come across, however good the claims are on the sales copy. Remember, good sales copy is supposed to play around the prospects' psychology behaviors into believing their actual claims. That's why professional copywriters charge tens of thousands for great sales copy because they do bring in lots of sales just by selling hype. You should only spend money on ebooks which could help you move on in your business. For example, if you feel that you are lack in copywriting skills, then you ought to buy copywriting materials from the professionals.

Taking Action Is The Best Action You Can Make.
Let's face it, how many of us who could spend a bomb in our internet marketing materials but only to find it lying around in our computer hard disk for ages? The fact is, no matter how good or how expensive or even how reputable the ebooks that you've bought, it doesn't matter until you make the first step into implementing the materials which you learn from the ebooks. If you are new to Internet Marketing, then you should only buy ebooks that will teach you step by step in setting up your Internet Marketing business. Otherwise, stay away from them.

Hardcopy VS Intangible Books
There had been discussions going on which debate just how good are those Internet Marketing books found on the bookstores compared to those on the Internet. While I couldn't agree more on some of the great Internet Marketing books you can find on the bookshelves, but in reality, most of the books I found cover only general concepts of the Internet Marketing. For example, in the business or internet marketing section of the bookstore, you might find stuff like "how to make money online" if you are looking for a book on internet marketing, but you can find a more specific ebook on the internet on "How to Get Successful Reciprocal Linking" or something like that. Both of these are related to Internet Marketing, but the latter tends to be more specific in their scope. Like what I've mentioned in the previous point, you should know what you are lack of and buy ebooks that will help you move forward in your business. If you are just starting out, internet marketing books in the bookstore will serve just as good as the newbie ebooks online.

As a conclusion, make sure you know who you can trust online before buying from them. There are lots of these self-proclaim internet Marketing Gurus who are just like the average Joe struggling to make money online. Remember, there are bunch of those great forums and discussion boards which not only you could find great pieces of information, but also the chance to pose questions as well.

In Between Dreams

In Between Dreams
For a man who gets his biggest kicks surfing the waves and strumming his guitar on a lonely beach in native Hawaii, singer-songwriter Jack Johnson has carved out quite a remarkable career on the mainland. His 2003 album, On and On, debuted at No. 3 on The Billboard 200 and subsequently went platinum on the back of hit single "The Horizon Has Been Defeated." The follow-up, meanwhile, seems destined to shine even brighter. The drifting chords and soft voice are still in place, only now Johnson's instinct for melody has sharpened alongside his ability to self-edit. These small concessions make third album, In Between Dreams, his most conspicuous, particularly on tracks like the three-minute relationship drama, "Sitting, Waiting, Wishing," and "Breakdown," a song he originally recorded for Handsome Boy Modeling School's White People album remade here to reveal its full stripped-down loveliness. Imagine all the coconuts it will buy. -- Aidin Vaziri

Customer Review: LOVE IT!!!!

This is one of the few, and rare, albums that one will find in life that you can fall in love with every song on the album. I think it is a great compilation I also think that Jack Johnson has a very easy voice to listen too.

Harry Potter Audio Books ? The Pros And Cons

The Harry Potter mania has not skipped the audio books world. Apart from Harry potter books, movies and video games you could find all the Harry Potter series on audio books formats ? downloadable audio books, audio books on CD and books on tape. Is it good for our children? Decide yourself after getting to know the pros and cons of the Harry Potter audio books:

The pros:

1. The Harry Potter audio books are an excellent educational activity for young children that can not read yet or for children with dyslexia. Yet, young children may be afraid of some of the chapters on the Harry Potter audio books ? just skip these parts.

2. The Harry Potter audio books are the perfect solution for children who do not like to read. It will help them get all the essential values from the Harry potter books without actually reading them. More than that, it could motivate them to start reading books. One mother told me that she allowed her children to listen only to the first Harry Potter audio book. To get to know the rest of the Harry Potter series, her children had to actually read them.

3. The Harry Potter audio books are the best method to teach children proper pronunciation. A perfect reading will teach them new words and correct speaking techniques.

4. The Harry Potter audio books will keep your children busy for hours. You could use them while traveling in the car, instead of reading to them before they go to sleep or just to get some rest from your children.

The cons:

1. The Harry Potter audio books may encourage children not to read books. In some cases I have heard of, children who started listening to audio books, have read less books. Yet, I believe it?s all a matter of a good education and parents? domination.

2. Some say that listening to audio books such as the Harry Potter audio books may damage the imagination and creativity of the children.
