Writing about guest books was indeed a spontaneous decision on my part. I solemnly hope that this was a wise decision that I had made.

New Baby Gifts - Books are the Answer
There are hundreds of adorable new baby gift baskets out there. Some are actually adorable and useful. Finding a new baby gift basket with quality children's books is like striking gold in a dark mine shaft.
Babies should be read to from the moment they can sit in mom or dad's lap. Even though the new little one won't understand the story line or even some of the basic language, the sounds of a parents voice is one the most soothing things for an infant. Small infants love sharp contrasting colors. There are numerous books that show black and white designs with red accents. These make a young baby's eyes wide with excitement.
As the child grows, simple picture books are appealing. Colorful pictures with simple text are ideal. Many babies, as they reach a few months old, love the texture of the feel and learn type books. This is a great way for a parent to show new vocabulary, whether it is farm animals to fruits and vegetables. The parent can repeat the words while the child can feel the texture that was made into the book. A great extension of this reading time is to show your child the things from the book in real life situations. This could range from walking through a petting zoo to exploring the produce at the local grocery store.
Books with rhyme and repetition are huge hits. Most of the time mom and dad will have the story memorized from reading it so much. Sometimes, you can start saying the book from memorization and your one year old will actually go locate the book. Rhymes are a great way for the child to develop language. Some rhyming books use silly words as part of the rhyming, but as the child starts doing this also, it shows that the child is progressing in phonological awareness which is crucial to reading success. Hearing the sounds and being able to reproduce the sounds are necessary components to triumph when it comes to language development.
So, when you are searching for that unique baby gift, you can be the dock master that sets the ship of reading sailing for any new child.

The Adventures of Indiana Jones (Raiders of the Lost Ark/ Temple of Doom/ Last Crusade) - Widescreen Edition
The Adventures of Indiana Jones (Raiders of the Lost Ark/ Temple of Doom/ Last Crusade) - Widescreen Edition
As with Star Wars, the George Lucas-produced Indiana Jones trilogy was not just a plaything for kids but an act of nostalgic affection toward a lost phenomenon: the cliffhanging movie serials of the past. Episodic in structure and with fate hanging in the balance about every 10 minutes, the Jones features tapped into Lucas's extremely profitable Star Wars formula of modernizing the look and feel of an old, but popular, story model. Steven Spielberg directed all three films, which are set in the late 1930s and early '40s: the comic book-like Raiders of the Lost Ark, the spooky, Gunga Din-inspired Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, and the cautious but entertaining Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Fans and critics disagree over the order of preference, some even finding the middle movie nearly repugnant in its violence. (Pro-Temple of Doom people, on the other hand, believe that film to be the most disarmingly creative and emotionally effective of the trio.) One thing's for sure: Harrison Ford's swaggering, two-fisted, self-effacing performance worked like a charm, and the art of cracking bullwhips was probably never quite the iconic activity it soon became after Raiders. Supporting players and costars were very much a part of the series, too--Karen Allen, Sean Connery (as Indy's dad), Kate Capshaw, Ke Huy Quan, Amrish Puri, Denholm Elliot, River Phoenix, and John Rhys-Davies among them. Years have passed since the last film (another is supposedly in the works), but emerging film buffs can have the same fun their predecessors did picking out numerous references to Hollywood classics and B-movies of the past. --Tom Keogh
Customer Review: A Must Own Collection
These films are no doubt part of American Cinema at it's best!
I grew up watching these movies and even today when I sit back and watch them, I appreciate them even more as if it's my first time tunning in.
The locations, the acting, the screenplay all work perfectly. I don't think there are words left to describe how amazing this collection is on DVD.
I heard George Lucas is set to release these films on it's own soon, but why bother? Why spend your money on the same thing, even if your going to get some new bonus features. It's not like your getting a brand new movie.
I would recommend to wait until the 4th installment hits DVD shelves, then maybe it would be worth a purchase if it gets released into the box set. Till then...this collection is timeless!
Customer Review: captions
At least on the set I'm watching, the captions on the extra disc are attempted but are NOT well done. It's apparent that they haven't been "cleaned up," so understanding can be iffy. I appreciate the effort, but it would be nice if the execution were better.

Customer Review: Unreliable long term WD320GB
This was easy to setup and use. It comes with a 1yr warrenty and flat out died just after the warrenty expired... The company (WD) was extremely unhelpfull and insisted the product was outside of warrenty and the only way to recover my data is to pay a lot of money to an external data recovery center. You want your data safe, and this HD is NOT safe or secure. I just bought a replacement from Seagate, and while I can't say anything about how long it will work for, they are known to be reliable and that is what you want with a HD. DO NOT BUY WESTERN DIGITAL if you value your files...

Seagate ST303204FPA1E3-RK FreeAgent Pro 320 GB USB/eSATA/FireWire400 External Hard Drive
Customer Review: Great Addition To My Set Up
I purchased this xmas night (tuesday) and received it thursday morning! I have an apple computer as my main workstation and was running out of storage space quick since i recently got into video editing with Final Cut Studio 2. I got this one since it has USB, FW400, and FW800, the 2 latter which stream audio and video extremely quickly (USB 2.0 sends data in packets so HD video would stutter on playback in the editor, FireWire sends data as streams).
The Drive is Very quiet, dosnt make a peep, even when reading or writing, and there is no annoying fan noise. The sleek aluminum case never gets hot and it matches perfectly to my sleek apple laptop.
Even though it is not as portable as some other drives are marketed to be, it is still very easy to transport with WD's simple button interface. Hit the center button and the drive will eject and turn itself off! All you have to do is unplug and toss in your bag or w/e.
Must have for anyone that has a lot of music, pictures, or videos.
One thing you should all know if you didnt all ready, the reason why computers seem to get slow over time is because as a HD gets full, the seek time increases for info, getting all the large files and the bulk of your collection on an external leaves the main HD fairly clean for faster system performance.
Kensington 64068 MicroSaver Notebook Lock and Security Cable (PC/Mac)
Kensington 64068 MicroSaver Notebook Lock and Security Cable (PC/Mac)
Theft protection for computers and peripherals
Customer Review: Great product for the $$$
I researched several different solutions for securing my laptop at work after a few of them were stolen. Kensington products are widely regarded as the industry standard for laptop security cables, and my particular laptop (HP NC2400) was compatible. This cable also fits into my docking station, which makes it double-handy. But like many other reviewers have noted, this is not a panacea for thwarting laptop theft. I not only loop my cable through the security hole in my desk, but I also loop it through a set of mugs that I bought at my local dollar store, so if anyone tries to cut the cable, they'll make a loud ruckus. Just a suggestion to increase the efficacy of this lock for a few bucks more.
Customer Review: Light, Effective, Laptop Security Solution
I have three of these and I'm pleased with them. I leave two laptops secured to the desk at all times and the third sits in my laptop backpack ready for travel. These are light, and simple to operate. No complaints. I've used the Kensington brand laptop cables for years - I think since they first came out. I lose them periodically but keep buying more. I highly recommend.
As a bonus, it looks like the newer external hard drives are now being made with the laptop security "hole/notch" so you can secure these with the security cables also. Very nice. My new Seagate 500GB FreeAgent does for sure but I've seen the security features mentioned in reviews of other drives as well.
